Chapter 1: The Family That Turned Into Enemies

Christopher did not wait until morning.

Within an hour of the recording, every attorney representing the Pierce family had been summoned to the mansion.

Emma slept in a guest room beside the library, wrapped in blankets while a doctor confirmed that she would recover physically. Emotionally was another matter.

She refused to let go of Christopher's hand.

Every time he tried to stand, her tiny fingers tightened around his.

"Daddy... don't leave."

The single word shattered him.

She had called him "Daddy" before.

But this time, she sounded terrified that she might lose him forever.

"I won't," Christopher whispered. "No one will ever take you away again."

Across the mansion, Estelle Pierce sat calmly in her private study.

She wasn't frightened.

She was angry.

"You embarrassed this family," she told Christopher as he entered.

"You tried to kill my daughter."

"I protected the Pierce fortune."

"You tried to murder a child."

Estelle stood.

"That child threatens everything your grandfather built."

Christopher stared at the woman who had raised him.

For the first time in his life...

...he no longer recognized his own mother.

"You always taught me that family came first."

"I did."

"So why wasn't Emma considered family?"

Estelle looked away.

"Because Rachel was never worthy of becoming a Pierce."

Christopher's voice turned colder than ice.

"Then neither are you."

Silence filled the room.

Minutes later, the Pierce board members arrived.

Christopher placed the recorder on the conference table.

Nobody spoke as Estelle's voice echoed through the speakers.

When the recording ended, several directors lowered their eyes in shame.

One elderly board member finally spoke.

"We cannot allow someone capable of conspiring against a child to remain chairwoman."

The vote was unanimous.

After forty-two years of absolute control...

Estelle Pierce lost everything in less than fifteen minutes.

She left the boardroom without saying goodbye.

Only once she reached the front gate did she realize she was no longer entering the mansion as its queen.

She was leaving it as an outcast.
