Chapter 3: The Truth That Couldn’t Stay Buried

Security arrived, but not for Lila.

For the socialite.

Ethan had already made a call.

Within minutes, the gala’s atmosphere shifted from elegance to panic.

Guests whispered. Phones were hidden. Conversations broke apart.

The socialite’s voice rose sharply. “Do you have any idea who I am?”

Ethan finally turned to her.

“Yes,” he said calmly. “Someone who just destroyed evidence of a stolen inheritance.”

Her face went pale.

Lila stood frozen as everything around her unraveled.

Ethan stepped closer to her.

“The Valen family didn’t disappear,” he said gently. “They were erased.”

Lila’s voice trembled. “Why would anyone do that?”

Ethan looked at the shattered pearls on the floor.

“Because your family owned something more valuable than money.”

He paused.

“Truth.”

At that moment, an older man in the crowd stepped forward—a board member of the gala foundation.

His expression was pale.

“That insignia… it matches the documents from twenty years ago,” he whispered. “The sealed case… the Valen financial collapse… it was fabricated.”

The socialite stumbled back.

“No… that’s impossible.”

But Ethan’s voice cut through everything.

“It wasn’t impossible. It was profitable.”

Silence fell.

Lila slowly looked down at the broken necklace in her hands.

“What am I supposed to do now?” she asked softly.

Ethan picked up one intact pearl and placed it in her palm.

“You don’t run,” he said. “You don’t hide.”

“You reclaim what was taken from you.”

Outside, sirens approached.

Inside, a buried legacy finally began to breathe again.
