Chapter 2: Every Move Was Recorded

Chapter 2: Every Move Was Recorded
The ambulance crew carefully lifted Emily Harper onto a stretcher.
Before leaving, she looked directly at Vanessa.
There was no anger.
Only disappointment.
"You had so many chances to stop."
Vanessa screamed after her.
"You're lying!"
Emily said nothing more.
Once the ambulance doors closed, Detective Ruiz connected one of the hard drives to a television in the foyer.
A security recording appeared.
Not from inside the mansion.
From across the street.
The footage clearly showed Vanessa entering the property nearly an hour earlier than she claimed.
Then another video.
She was seen removing two cameras from the hallway.
Another.
She stood outside Emily's bedroom while wearing gloves.
Another.
She made a phone call.
The audio played through hidden surveillance equipment.
"If the fall doesn't kill her..."
"...the baby won't survive."
Silence swallowed the room.
The housekeeper covered her mouth.
"I heard that voice every day..."
"I never imagined..."
Ruiz played one final recording.
This one came from a tiny camera hidden inside a decorative vase overlooking the staircase.
The entire confrontation unfolded.
Emily never touched Vanessa.
She simply tried to walk away.
Vanessa grabbed her arm.
Blocked her path.
Then shoved her with both hands.
There was no argument.
No struggle.
No self-defense.
Only deliberate violence.
Vanessa slowly stepped backward.
"This isn't possible..."
Ruiz answered quietly.
"The camera wasn't installed to catch today's attack."
"It was installed because Mrs. Harper knew eventually..."
"...you would become careless."

Vanessa's knees buckled.
Everything she had planned for months collapsed in less than ten minutes.
