Chapter 1: The Child Who Vanished
The mansion looked immaculate.
Golden afternoon sunlight poured across polished marble floors. Priceless paintings adorned the cream-colored walls, while an enormous family portrait watched over the room from above the grand fireplace.
For one impossible second...
Everything was silent.
Then—
A deafening crack ripped through the mansion.
The elegant fiancée swung her hand with brutal force, slapping the young housemaid so hard that her head snapped sideways.
"You broke my mirror because you've been sneaking around this family again!"
The maid stumbled backward.
Her knees buckled.
She crashed onto the cold marble floor as tears instantly welled in her eyes.
Three servants froze where they stood.

One maid nearly dropped the silver serving tray shaking in her hands.
A footman turned deathly pale.
No one dared interfere.
The fiancée marched forward, eyes blazing with rage.
She grabbed a fistful of the maid's hair and yanked her face upward.
"Look at them," she spat.
"Tell everyone why you came back."
The maid trembled from head to toe.
Everyone expected her to cry.
To apologize.
To deny everything.
She did none of those.
Slowly...
She lifted one shaking hand.
Without speaking a single word...
She pointed toward the enormous family portrait hanging above the fireplace.
Every head turned.
Silence swallowed the room.
Attention narrowed to one tiny detail.
A little girl standing beside the family's elderly matriarch wore a delicate silver bracelet.
The exact same bracelet circled the maid's wrist.
The grandmother took one hesitant step forward.
Her knees nearly gave way.
She caught herself on the back of a chair, unable to tear her eyes away.
When she finally spoke, her voice was barely a whisper.
"That bracelet..."
"It never left my granddaughter's wrist the night of the fire."
The wealthy heir slowly turned toward the maid.
For the first time...
He truly looked at her.
Not as a servant.
Not as an outsider.
He saw the same gentle eyes.
The same soft smile.
The same slight curve above her left eyebrow.
The resemblance was undeniable.
The fiancée's fingers loosened.
The maid pressed the bracelet tightly against her chest as tears streamed down her face.
"My mother told me..."
Her voice trembled.
"If anyone in this house ever called me a liar..."
"...I should point at the portrait before saying a single word."
A suffocating silence swept through the mansion.
The grandmother covered her mouth with shaking hands.
Only one child had supposedly died in the fire.
Her precious granddaughter.
Little Elena.
The girl everyone believed had been trapped inside the burning west wing.
No one moved.
No one breathed.
Then the maid lifted her tear-filled eyes to the grandmother and quietly spoke the sentence that shattered an entire family's past.
"She didn't die that night..."
A long pause.
"...she escaped."
May you like
Another breath.
"...carrying me."
