Chapter 1: The Fall Heard Around the World

Chapter 1: The Fall Heard Around the World

The order spread through the financial world faster than anyone imagined.

By sunset...

Every major business network carried the same headline.

CROSS INDUSTRIES COLLAPSES AFTER EMERGENCY BOARD TAKEOVER.

Damian Cross sat alone in the executive office that no longer belonged to him.

His security badge had already stopped working.

The portrait of him hanging behind the desk had been removed.

Even his name disappeared from the company's internal directory.

It was as though someone had erased ten years of his existence in a single afternoon.

He stared at the empty walls.

"This company is mine..."

He whispered the words over and over, trying to make himself believe them.

Then the elevator doors opened.

Three members of the board entered.

Not one of them greeted him.

Instead, the chairman quietly placed another envelope on the desk.

"Mr. Cross."

"The board has completed its investigation."

Damian looked up.

"What investigation?"

"The one Ms. Voss ordered six months ago."

His heart stopped.

Six months?

The chairman nodded.

"Every illegal bonus."

"Every hidden account."

"Every forged approval."

"Every employee forced to resign."

"We found everything."

Damian grabbed the papers.

Page after page.

Evidence.

Signed transfers.

Secret recordings.

Witness statements.

He finally understood.

Elena hadn't destroyed him with one signature.

She had simply waited until the truth was impossible to deny.

Outside...

Employees gathered in the lobby.

Not to protest.

Not to defend Damian.

They applauded.

The applause echoed through the marble halls as Elena entered the building.

For years they had watched talented people disappear...

Careers ruined.

Ideas stolen.

Lives broken.

Now the woman everyone believed was powerless had returned to give the company back its dignity.

An elderly janitor stepped forward.

With trembling hands, he offered Elena the company ID badge she had surrendered years before.

"I kept it," he said softly.

"I always believed you'd come back."

For the first time that day...

Elena's eyes glistened.

She accepted the badge.

"Thank you."

"I never stopped trying."

The lobby erupted into applause once more.

Upstairs...

May you like

Damian heard every clap.

Each one sounded like another door closing forever.
