Chapter 2: The Wedding That Stopped

Chapter 2: The Wedding That Stopped

Minutes later, hundreds of guests filled the ballroom.

But nobody was celebrating.

The giant screens that had been prepared for wedding photographs now displayed security footage.

The recording began.

Vivienne appeared beside a tall man wearing a black suit.

The room fell silent.

Then her voice echoed through the speakers.

"After today, everything belongs to me."

Gasps filled the ballroom.

Julien stood motionless.

The recording continued.

The man laughed.

"And what about Julien?"

Vivienne smiled.

The smile that shattered everything.

"He believes every word I tell him."

Several guests looked away in discomfort.

But the worst was yet to come.

"I never loved him."

The words echoed through the hall.

"He was simply the easiest path to the life I wanted."

A collective gasp swept through the room.

Julien closed his eyes.

Not because he was surprised.

But because hearing the truth spoken aloud hurt far more than suspicion ever could.

When the recording ended, complete silence followed.

Vivienne looked around desperately.

"Julien, please. I can explain."

He opened his eyes.

"No."

She stepped toward him.

Tears streamed down her face.

"It wasn't supposed to happen like this."

Julien gave a sad smile.

"For once, you're telling the truth."

Then he removed his wedding ring.

The ring that had been waiting for this ceremony.

The symbol of a future that no longer existed.

And he placed it on the nearest table.

"The wedding is over."

The room erupted.

Some guests applauded.

Others stared in shock.

Vivienne collapsed into a chair.
