Vanessa's face drained of color.
"That's insane."
But Clara had come prepared.
She removed a folder from her serving cart.
Inside were bank records.
Phone logs.
Private messages.
Evidence gathered over five years.
Ethan's hands trembled as he flipped through the pages.
Vanessa had been involved with Marcus Hale, Ethan's former business partner.
Together they had arranged the sabotage.
Marcus wanted control of Blackwood Enterprises.
Vanessa wanted Ethan.
The explosion was supposed to eliminate Clara permanently.
What they hadn't expected was for Clara to survive.
Vanessa laughed nervously.
"You can't prove any of this."
Then a new voice interrupted.
"Actually, she can."
Everyone turned.
Two detectives entered the ballroom.
Marcus Hale followed behind them in handcuffs.
The police had arrested him an hour earlier.
Faced with prison, he confessed everything.
Vanessa's knees nearly gave out.
