Chapter 5: The Birthday They Never Had

Chapter 5: The Birthday They Never Had

One year later...

The Hawthorne estate once again hosted a birthday celebration.

But this time...

There was only one birthday cake.

On it were two names.

Isabella & Evelyn

The ballroom sparkled just as brightly as it had the year before.

Yet everything had changed.

The servants sat beside the guests.

No one was treated as less than anyone else.

The sisters welcomed every employee personally.

When a young waitress accidentally dropped a tray, she immediately burst into tears.

"I'm so sorry!"

Before anyone else could react, Isabella walked over.

She gently helped the young woman pick up the broken glasses.

Then she smiled.

"It's only a few glasses."

"What matters is that you're okay."

The room erupted into warm applause.

Evelyn looked at her sister with quiet pride.

Their father had once dreamed of seeing them together.

Now, somewhere beyond this world, perhaps he finally had.

As the evening came to an end, the sisters stood beneath the crystal chandeliers, holding the old silver pocket watch between them.

It no longer represented loss.

It represented the family they had fought so hard to reclaim.

Some scars never truly disappear, but they no longer have to define who we become.

Because in the end, family isn't determined by lies, wealth, or power.

It's built through truth, forgiveness, and the courage to choose love over fear.

And sometimes, the greatest birthday gift isn't receiving something new.

It's finally getting back what should have been yours all along.
