Chapter 2 – Truth Before the World

Chapter 2 – Truth Before the World

By sunrise, every major business network carried the same headline.

THE SECRET OWNER OF HAWTHORNE TECHNOLOGIES REVEALED AFTER CEO'S SHOCK DISMISSAL.

Reporters flooded the streets outside company headquarters.

Investors rushed to buy stock.

Instead of falling, the company's value surged.

Confidence had returned.

Inside the media hall, cameras flashed as Isabella stepped onto the stage.

She wore a simple navy suit.

No expensive jewelry.

Only quiet confidence.

A reporter spoke first.

"Mrs. Bennett, were you hiding your identity from your husband?"

"I wasn't hiding," Isabella replied.

"I simply never felt the need to announce my family's name."

Another reporter asked,

"Did you remove Lucas because of the affair?"

She shook her head.

"No."

"I removed him because he confused power with ownership."

The room fell silent.

She continued,

"A company survives because thousands of honest people work every day."

"Not because one man believes he's untouchable."

The applause came unexpectedly.

Not from reporters.

From the employees standing in the back.

Many of them had watched Lucas humiliate workers for years.

Today...

Someone had finally stood up for them.

Lucas watched the broadcast from a luxury apartment that no longer belonged to him.

Court orders had frozen most of his assets.

Sponsors canceled contracts.

Banks demanded immediate repayment.

His phone rang endlessly.

Not one call was from a friend.

Only creditors.

Sophie's confidence disappeared overnight.

"This isn't what you promised me."

Lucas buried his face in his hands.

"I didn't know."

"You didn't know your own wife owned everything?"

She laughed bitterly.

"I left my reputation for you."

He couldn't answer.

Because she was right.

Their relationship had been built on arrogance.

Without money...

There was nothing left.

Two days later, Sophie quietly packed her bags.

She left only one note.

You betrayed one woman. Don't expect another to stay.

Lucas never saw her again.

Richard and Helen suffered their own humiliation.

The family mansion had been purchased through company funds.

After the audit, it was seized as a corporate asset.

They walked out carrying only a few suitcases.

Neighbors watched from behind perfectly trimmed hedges.

For the first time...

The Hawthorne family knew what public shame felt like.
