Chapter 1: The Promise Hidden in Two Necklaces

Chapter 1: The Promise Hidden in Two Necklaces

The silence inside the mansion felt almost unbearable.

The young maid instinctively reached for the necklace resting against her chest.

"So... it isn't just mine?" she whispered.

The older woman's hands trembled.

"No," she replied softly. "There were only two ever made."

She carefully lifted the necklace from the blue jewelry box.

Twenty-five years earlier, her husband had commissioned the famous royal jeweler to create a matching pair.

One necklace belonged to their newborn daughter.

The other belonged to the child's future guardian.

Only those two pieces had ever existed.

Tears welled in the older woman's eyes.

"My daughter disappeared the night this necklace vanished."

The maid's heart pounded.

"I don't understand... I grew up in Saint Mary's orphanage."

The older woman immediately called the family driver.

"Take us there. Right now."

Hours later, they arrived at the quiet stone orphanage where time seemed to have stood still.

Most of the sisters who had once cared for abandoned children had already passed away.

Only one elderly nun remained.

Her name was Sister Agnes.

When she saw the necklace around the maid's neck, she froze.

For several long seconds, she simply stared.

Then tears rolled down her weathered face.

"I prayed this day would finally come."

Everyone fell silent.

Sister Agnes slowly opened an old wooden chest.

Inside rested a faded baby blanket embroidered with a tiny emerald flower.

Wrapped inside it...

was a birth certificate.

The mother's name matched the woman standing beside the maid.

The room filled with quiet sobs.

But Sister Agnes lowered her head.

"There is still one truth you don't know."

"The little girl wasn't abandoned."

"She was taken."

And the person responsible...

was someone the family had trusted more than anyone.
