The rain refused to stop.
Claire stood barefoot on the cold stone driveway, soaked to the bone. Her hands trembled—not from fear anymore, but from ten years of swallowing pain finally breaking free.
Behind the iron gates, Adrian wrapped an arm around Vanessa, who proudly displayed the sapphire-blue diamond necklace around her neck.
"My mother always had expensive taste," Vanessa laughed. "At least someone worthy is wearing it now."
Adrian smirked.
"She's right. You should've left years ago, Claire."
The heavy gates closed with a metallic slam.
For a long moment, Claire simply stared.
Then she pulled her cracked phone from her muddy purse.
One number.
One call.
"Dad..."
Silence answered first.
Then came the calm voice she hadn't heard in nearly a decade.
"Claire."
"I'm ready."
Another pause.
"They crossed the line."
Her father sighed softly.
"I've waited ten years for you to say those words."
Claire closed her eyes.
"I never wanted your money."
"I know."
"I wanted Adrian to love me without it."
"And now?"
"He never loved me at all."
Her father didn't respond immediately.
Instead he spoke to someone beside him.
"Activate every recovery clause."
Dozens of voices echoed in the background.
Lawyers.
Executives.
Bank representatives.
Then he returned.
"Sweetheart..."
"You've suffered enough."
Exactly eleven minutes later...
Adrian's phone rang.
Unknown number.
He answered lazily.
"This is Adrian Black."
"Mr. Black," a cold voice replied.
"This is Sterling International Legal Affairs."
His smile disappeared.
"There must be some mistake."
"There isn't."
"We are informing you that effective immediately, your authority over Black Horizon Holdings has been suspended pending ownership verification."
"What?"
Another call came in.
Then another.
His CFO.
His bank manager.
His chief legal officer.
His assistant burst into the living room.
"Sir!"
"Our corporate accounts are frozen!"
"What are you talking about?"
"The investors are demanding emergency meetings!"
Vanessa frowned.
"What did you do?"
Adrian glared.
"I didn't do anything."
Outside...
Every light in the mansion suddenly shut off.
