Chapter 1: The Lie That Lasted Only Minutes

Chapter 1: The Lie That Lasted Only Minutes

Marcus didn't answer immediately.

His eyes never left Khloe.

She was curled around her stomach, trembling, one hand gripping the edge of the overturned table while the other desperately protected their unborn child.

"Marcus..." Khloe whispered through tears. "The baby..."

The words shattered whatever confusion remained.

"Call the emergency team!" Marcus roared.

Doctors and nurses rushed into the private suite as alarms echoed through the VIP floor.

Isabella quickly grabbed Marcus's sleeve.

"She's pretending! She attacked me first! I only defended myself!"

Marcus pulled his arm away.

"So explain this."

He pointed toward Khloe's bruised side.

"And explain why you're standing while my pregnant wife is bleeding."

No one spoke.

Within seconds, Dr. Ethan Lawson arrived.

The distinguished hospital director immediately knelt beside Khloe.

The moment he saw her face, his expression changed completely.

"Khloe..."

His voice shook.

"My God... who did this to my niece?"

The room fell silent.

Marcus looked up.

"Niece?"

Dr. Lawson slowly stood.

"Khloe's mother is my younger sister."

He turned toward Isabella.

"Whoever touched her will answer to this hospital... and to me."

Isabella's confident smile disappeared for the first time.

She had spent months believing Khloe was an ordinary woman Marcus had married out of convenience.

She never imagined the director of the nation's most prestigious private hospital was family.

Within moments, Khloe was rushed into the operating unit for emergency monitoring.

Marcus remained outside the doors, his hands covered with his wife's blood.

Dr. Lawson approached quietly.

"The baby still has a heartbeat."

Marcus closed his eyes in relief.

"But," Dr. Lawson continued, "the trauma was severe. Another few minutes could have changed everything."

Marcus's jaw tightened.

"It won't happen again."

Then he turned toward the security supervisor.

"I want every camera."

"The gala."

"The elevators."

"The hallways."

"And this suite."

"No edits."

"No delays."

"I want the truth."

Meanwhile, Isabella sat alone in a luxury waiting room, convinced money and influence would save her again.

She had no idea that every second of her performance had already been recorded.
