Chapter 1: The Truth No One Could Erase

Chapter 1: The Truth No One Could Erase
Marcus dropped to his knees beside Khloe, ignoring the shards of broken glass cutting through the knees of his expensive tuxedo.
"Khloe... stay with me."
She gripped his sleeve with trembling fingers.
"Our baby..."
Those two words shattered whatever illusion he had been living.
Doctors and nurses rushed into the suite as Director Adrian Bennett, Khloe's uncle, entered with hospital security.
"Clear the room!" Adrian ordered.
Within seconds, Isabella found herself surrounded.
"This is ridiculous," she snapped. "I'm the victim here!"
Adrian looked at the security officers without even acknowledging her.
"Do not allow her to leave this floor."
Marcus barely heard the exchange.
His eyes remained fixed on Khloe as the obstetric team lifted her onto a stretcher.
"Possible placental trauma," one physician said.
"We're taking her directly to Emergency Obstetrics."
Marcus reached for her hand.
"I'm coming."
A nurse stopped him.
"We need room to work."
The doors closed.
For the first time in years, Marcus Thorne felt completely powerless.
Minutes later, his phone vibrated again.
The surveillance video had finished downloading.
He pressed play.
The footage was painfully clear.
Khloe had never approached Isabella.
She had remained seated beside the hospital bed.
Isabella entered the suite furious.
The audio captured every word.
"You think a baby makes you untouchable?"
Khloe calmly asked her to leave.
Instead...
Isabella grabbed her shoulder.
Shoved her backward.
Then deliberately kicked the side of her pregnant body after she had already fallen.
Marcus's breathing stopped.
The final seconds were even worse.
Khloe never tried to defend herself.
She only covered her stomach.
Nothing else mattered to her.
Not herself.
Only their child.
Marcus lowered the phone.
His hands shook uncontrollably.
Security Chief Daniel Hayes approached quietly.
"Sir..."
Marcus interrupted him.
"How long have you had this footage?"
"We recovered it fifteen minutes ago. The hospital's internal system automatically backed up the recording."
Marcus closed his eyes.
"And the affair?"
Daniel hesitated.
"You instructed us months ago not to investigate Miss Rossi."
Marcus nodded slowly.
"I know."
His own arrogance had protected Isabella.
No one else's.
Meanwhile, Isabella was escorted into a private security office.
She still believed she could manipulate the situation.
"My attorney will destroy this hospital."
Director Adrian calmly placed a tablet in front of her.
"Watch."
The recording played.
Every shove.
Every insult.
Every kick.
Every lie.
When it ended...
Silence.
Her confidence disappeared.
She whispered,
"There has to be another angle."
"There isn't," Adrian replied.
"You assaulted a pregnant patient inside my hospital."
Then he added quietly,
"And she happens to be my niece."

For the first time that night...
Isabella realized she was completely alone.
