The music stopped.
Not gradually—abruptly, like someone had cut the world’s power.
Guests began to murmur, confused at first, then uneasy. Cameras turned. Phones lifted. Something was wrong, and everyone could feel it.
Elena stepped back from the child instinctively, shaking her head.
“No… no, sweetheart…”
But the girl held on tighter.
“Don’t call her that,” Thomas said quietly.
His voice was calm—but it carried weight. Dangerous weight.
The child looked at him.
Then she said it again, clearer this time.
“Mama.”
A collective gasp swept through the room.
Elena’s hands shook violently. “I didn’t teach her that. I swear I didn’t—”
