CHAPTER 2 — THE NAME THAT CHANGED THE ROOM

Beatrice stepped forward slightly, her voice growing stronger.
“She didn’t know who I was. She didn’t ask for my name. She didn’t care about my wealth.”
A projection screen behind her flickered on.
Security footage from the hotel lobby appeared.
Elena was seen kneeling beside Beatrice, supporting her shoulders, loosening her scarf, calling for help while others walked past.
A few gasps echoed through the crowd.
“And then,” Beatrice continued, her voice tightening, “someone else arrived.”
The screen shifted.
Victoria appeared in the footage—standing over Elena, shouting, pointing, humiliating her in front of guests.
A wave of shock moved through the audience.
Whispers exploded.
“That’s Victoria Hart…”
“She made them fire her on the spot…”
Victoria’s face went pale.
Beatrice looked directly at her now.
“You demanded she be fired.”
The room froze.
“But you didn’t know who you were firing her from.”
Beatrice turned slightly.
“Because I am Beatrice Langford. Chairwoman of the Langford Foundation. And the woman you humiliated… is the only reason I am alive today.”
Elena’s eyes widened in disbelief.
Victoria stood abruptly. “This is ridiculous—she’s just a housekeeper!”
May you like
Beatrice’s voice cut sharply through the hall.
“And you are just a guest who forgot what humanity looks like.”
