Chapter 2: The Fall and the Choice

Chapter 2: The Fall and the Choice

Three months later, the headlines had faded.

The world had already moved on.

But Damian had not.

His expensive suits had been replaced by ordinary jackets bought from discount stores.

His luxury apartment had been sold to satisfy creditors.

Former friends stopped answering his messages.

The people who once called him "visionary" now pretended they had never met him.

One rainy afternoon, Damian walked past a community center.

A familiar voice caught his attention.

Inside, Elena was speaking to a group of young entrepreneurs.

She wasn't discussing profits.

She was talking about responsibility.

"A business survives because people trust it," she said.

"The day you believe your title makes you more valuable than the people around you... you've already started losing."

Damian stood quietly near the back.

When the event ended, he approached her.

"I owe you an apology."

Elena looked at him for several seconds.

"You do."

"I destroyed people because I thought success meant winning every room."

She nodded.

"And now?"

"I don't know who I am anymore."

For the first time, there was no arrogance in his voice.

Only exhaustion.

Elena considered his words carefully.

"Then start there."

She handed him a business card.

It wasn't an executive position.

It wasn't even management.

It was an opportunity to volunteer at one of the educational foundations funded by Voss Global Holdings.

"No salary?"

Damian asked.

"No."

"No title?"

"No."

"What do I gain?"

Elena answered with complete honesty.

"A chance to become someone worth following."

He looked at the card for a long time.

Finally...

He accepted it.

It wasn't forgiveness.

It was something much more difficult.

A second chance.
