The call lasted only seven seconds.

"Dad," I whispered into the phone, my voice shaking but my eyes steady. "Just like you warned him... destroy his life."
There was silence on the other end.

"The acquisition deal with Horizon Capital has been canceled."
His face changed.
"What?"
"The investors pulled out. All of them."
Vanessa's smile slowly faded.
Adrian stood frozen.
"That's impossible."
Then another notification appeared.
BANK ACCOUNT ACCESS SUSPENDED.
Then another.
PARTNERSHIP CONTRACT TERMINATED.
Then another.
PRESS REQUESTS COMMENT REGARDING DOMESTIC ABUSE ALLEGATIONS.
His hands started trembling.
I watched silently.
For the first time in three years...
Adrian Vale looked afraid.
"Who are you?" Vanessa whispered.
I looked at her.
"You spent months investigating me."
She swallowed.
"But there was nothing."
I smiled faintly.
"Exactly."
Because my father had protected my identity.
Not because I was ashamed.
