Chapter 2: The Truth Unfolds

Chapter 2: The Truth Unfolds
The officer handed me a tablet.
One touch.
The giant screens surrounding the ballroom came alive.
Video footage filled every wall.
The VIP lounge.
The hallway.
The private elevator.
Every angle.
Every second.
Every lie.
The crowd watched in horror as the recording showed exactly what had happened.
My attacker cornering me.
His hand grabbing my arm.
My dress tearing.
My attempt to escape.
His punch.
The blood.
The silence.
The entire ballroom stared.
Nobody laughed now.
Several guests slowly stepped away from him.
His friends looked terrified.
"This is fake!" he shouted.
"She edited it!"
I raised an eyebrow.
"All eighteen security cameras?"
His mouth opened.
Nothing came out.
Then another video appeared.
Bank transfers.
Private messages.
Bribes.
Threats.
Years of corruption.
The officer spoke calmly.
"We have evidence connecting Mr. Harrison and several associates to financial crimes exceeding two hundred million dollars."
Gasps spread across the room.
One elderly investor collapsed into a chair.
A woman covered her mouth.
The people who had mocked me minutes earlier suddenly avoided eye contact.
My attacker's confidence shattered.
"You can't do this!" he screamed.
I stepped closer.
The ballroom became silent enough to hear my heels on the marble floor.
"You attacked me because you thought nobody would believe me."
I stopped in front of him.
"You were wrong."
His hands started shaking.
Then the officer received a message through his earpiece.
He nodded.
Turned toward me.
May you like
And smiled.
"Your father has arrived."
