Chapter 2: The Recording

Chapter 2: The Recording
The box contained a flash drive.
Nothing else.
Margaret brought it to the hospital.
Hours later, Emma finally regained consciousness.
Weak.
Exhausted.
But alive enough to speak.
When Margaret showed her the flash drive, tears filled Emma’s eyes.
“You found it.”
Richard had been escorted from the hospital after repeatedly demanding access to Emma’s room.
Now, for the first time, Emma felt safe.
The sisters inserted the flash drive into a laptop.
A video appeared.
Emma herself was on the screen.
Recorded three weeks earlier.
“If you're watching this,” the video began, “then Richard tried to kill me.”
Margaret gasped.
Lina covered her mouth.
Emma continued speaking on the recording.
She explained everything.
Months earlier she had discovered Richard's secret gambling debts.
Millions of dollars.
He had forged documents.
Moved money.
Sold family assets behind her back.
When Emma threatened to expose him, he changed.
First came manipulation.
Then threats.
Then fear.
“I believe he plans to drug me and make my death look natural.”
The room went silent.
The video ended with one final message.
“If something happens to me, don't let him get away with it.”
Margaret burst into tears.
And for the first time, Emma finally told them what happened.
Richard had poisoned her medication.
He believed she was dead.
He arranged the funeral before anyone could ask questions.

And if Lina hadn't heard those faint sounds from the coffin...
Emma would have been buried alive.
