Chapter 2: The Truth Behind the Disappearance

Chapter 2: The Truth Behind the Disappearance

Sophia sat quietly in the mansion library wrapped in a warm blanket.

A doctor examined the bruises on her wrists.

Alexander sat across from her, unable to take his eyes off her face.

"What happened?" he asked softly.

Sophia's hands trembled.

Five years of pain spilled out.

The glamorous woman was named Vanessa.

She was Alexander's distant cousin.

Years earlier, when Alexander left overseas to build a billion-dollar business empire, Vanessa saw an opportunity.

She forged documents.

Intercepted letters.

Bribed employees.

She convinced everyone that Sophia had left voluntarily.

Then she isolated Sophia from the outside world.

Sophia's bank accounts were frozen.

Her phone disappeared.

Every attempt to contact Alexander was blocked.

When Sophia resisted, Vanessa threatened the lives of the servants who helped her.

Eventually, Sophia was forced to work as a maid inside the mansion she once owned.

Alexander listened in silence.

Each word felt like a knife.

When she finished speaking, he clenched his fists.

"You suffered all this because of me."

Sophia shook her head.

"No. Because of her."

At that moment, the security chief entered.

"We found evidence, sir."

Boxes of forged documents.

Fake signatures.

Financial fraud.

Illegal transfers.

Everything.

Vanessa had stolen millions.

Alexander stood.

"Contact the police."

The security chief nodded.

Minutes later, officers arrived.

Vanessa screamed as she was led away in handcuffs.

"You can't do this!"

Alexander looked at her without emotion.

"You stole money."

He paused.

"But worse than that, you stole five years from the woman I love."

The mansion doors closed behind her.

And for the first time in years, Sophia felt safe.
