CHAPTER 2: THE SECRET OF THE FOUNDER

CHAPTER 2: THE SECRET OF THE FOUNDER
The crowd froze.
The manager nearly dropped his tablet.
The young woman's face turned white.
"No... that's impossible."
But it wasn't.
Every hotel employee knew the Carter Hospitality Group.
More than forty luxury properties across the country.
Billions in assets.
Thousands of employees.
And standing before them was the man who had built it all.
The same man they had watched being humiliated minutes earlier.
Michael finally spoke.
"I never hid who I was."
The woman blinked.
"What?"
"I simply stopped announcing it."
He looked around at the guests.
"When people know you're wealthy, they treat you differently."
His calm voice carried through the entrance.
"But when they think you're ordinary, they reveal who they truly are."
The employees listened carefully.
Some were ashamed.
Some were inspired.
Michael continued.
"For twelve years I've worked here part-time as a valet."
The crowd couldn't believe it.
"Why would you do that?" someone asked.
Michael smiled.
"Because I wanted to remember where I came from."
He pointed toward the parking lot.
"I built my first business while cleaning cars."
Then his expression softened.
"And I promised myself that if I ever became successful, I would never forget the dignity of honest work."
Tears appeared in the eyes of several staff members.
The young woman suddenly realized something terrible.
The issue wasn't that she had insulted a billionaire.
The issue was that she had insulted a human being.
Slowly, she lowered her head.
For the first time all day, she looked embarrassed.
"I'm sorry."
Michael looked at her.
The crowd waited.
May you like
But instead of demanding revenge, he simply asked one question.
"Would you have apologized if I were still just a valet?"
