CHAPTER 2: The Truth Behind Amelia Hart

CHAPTER 2: The Truth Behind Amelia Hart
Amelia slowly walked toward the center of the showroom.
Everyone watched.
The manager followed behind her.
“Would you like me to call security, Miss Hart?” he asked.
Victoria's eyes widened.
“No!”
The word escaped before she could stop it.
Amelia paused.
For a moment, she considered it.
The slap still burned on her cheek.
The humiliation was fresh.
The insults still echoed in her ears.
But then she shook her head.
“No security.”
The guests looked surprised.
Even Victoria seemed confused.
“Why not?” one woman asked.
Amelia turned.
“Because revenge is easy.”
The room fell silent.
“But dignity is harder.”
Victoria lowered her gaze.
For the first time, she looked small.
Weak.
Human.
Amelia continued.
“My fiancé and I came here because we wanted a simple wedding.”
She smiled toward Daniel, who stood nearby.
“We didn't tell anyone who my family was.”
“Why?” someone asked.
Amelia laughed softly.
“Because I wanted to know how people treated me when they thought I was ordinary.”
No one had an answer.
Because everyone now knew the truth.
Victoria hadn't insulted a wealthy heiress.
She had insulted a kind woman who never used her family's influence.
And somehow that made her actions look even worse.
Then Amelia did something nobody expected.
She walked directly toward Victoria.
The millionaire flinched.
But Amelia simply extended her hand.
Victoria stared at it.
“What are you doing?”
“Giving you a chance.”
“A chance?”
“To become a better person.”
Tears suddenly filled Victoria's eyes.
May you like
Because deep down she knew she had lost something far more valuable than status.
She had lost respect.
