Three hours later, Victoria sat inside Mercy General's security office.
The hospital director was sweating.
"We already provided all relevant records."
Victoria placed a military intelligence badge on the desk.
"Then you won't mind showing me the security footage."
The director hesitated.
Too long.
Victoria noticed.
"Show me."
Minutes later, the video appeared.
Emily entered the hospital emergency entrance.
But she hadn't arrived alone.
Two men were dragging her inside.
Her wrists were already injured.
Her face was already bruised.
Victoria's jaw tightened.
The timestamp was from before the supposed "mental breakdown."
The official story collapsed instantly.
Then another detail appeared.
One of the men unloading Emily from the vehicle was Deputy Sheriff Collins.
A member of Sheriff Miller's department.
Victoria stared at the screen.
The room became silent.
The hospital director suddenly looked pale.
"You didn't know this footage existed, did you?" Victoria asked.
"No..."
"Someone told you not to mention it."
The director lowered his head.
Victoria stood.
Her voice became ice.
"Congratulations."
The director swallowed hard.
"For what?"
"You just became a witness."
