Chapter 2: Rebuilding What Matters

Chapter 2: Rebuilding What Matters

Three months later...

Spring arrived.

The Harper mansion looked different.

Not because of renovations.

Because laughter had returned.

Grace never moved back into the house.

Instead, she rented a small cottage only fifteen minutes away.

It wasn't luxurious.

But it was peaceful.

Every afternoon Lily rode her bicycle there after school.

Sometimes they baked cookies.

Sometimes they painted.

Sometimes they simply talked.

Trust wasn't rebuilt with grand speeches.

It was rebuilt through ordinary days.

One honest conversation at a time.

Meanwhile, Evelyn quietly sold several investment properties.

Instead of buying new jewelry, she created something unexpected.

The Grace Collins Family Foundation.

Its mission was simple.

To provide legal aid for people falsely accused of crimes they didn't commit.

During the opening ceremony, reporters asked Evelyn why she chose that cause.

She looked toward Grace before answering.

"Because I once judged someone without seeking the truth."

"I don't intend to make that mistake again."

Grace smiled gently.

"None of us can change yesterday."

"But we can decide who we become tomorrow."

The audience rose in applause.

Not because Grace had won.

But because forgiveness had become stronger than revenge.
