Chapter 20 - The Ripple Effect

The sun dipped below the tree line, casting long, golden shadows across the Vermont landscape.

Life would never completely return to normal. We knew that. Somewhere out there, remnants of the Vanguard might still be lurking in the dark, watching, waiting. But we weren't running anymore. We had faced the storm, and we had survived it together.

I looked down at my hand. The calluses from the climbing trellis in Mexico were still there—a permanent reminder of the day a little girl in a yellow dress pushed my wife into a pool to save her life.

That single push had started a chain reaction, a chaotic storm of events that brought down a global conspiracy and saved our family.

Evie stood up, dusting off her jeans, and ran back toward the house where Mara was calling us in for dinner.
