Chapter 4: A New Beginning
Six weeks later, Maya went into labor.
Marcus never left her side.
After twelve difficult hours, a healthy baby boy entered the world.
His first cry filled the delivery room.
Maya cried too.
Not from pain.
From relief.
Marcus gently placed the newborn into her arms.
"You did it."
Outside the hospital room stood an unexpected visitor.
Brenda.
She held a tiny knitted blanket and looked years older.
"I just... wanted to meet my grandson."
Marcus stepped outside and quietly closed the door.
"My children will always know kindness," he said calmly.
"If one day Maya decides she's ready to forgive you, I'll respect her decision."
He looked directly into his mother's eyes.
"But forgiveness is earned."
Brenda lowered her head.
For the first time in her life...
May you like
she had nothing to say.
She walked away carrying the blanket she would never give.
