The recording kept playing.
My voice filled the bridal suite like poison in the air.
“I arranged everything. His father’s company collapse was easier than I expected.”
My stomach dropped.
“No…” I whispered. “That’s not me.”
But no one moved.
My fiancé, Adrian, stood frozen in the doorway, his tuxedo flawless, his expression unreadable. Behind him, guests had started gathering—whispers spilling like smoke into the hallway.
The maid of honor—Lena—smiled slowly as she stepped away from me.
“I told you,” she said softly. “You never deserved him.”
Adrian finally spoke.
“Is it real?”
I shook my head violently, tears blurring my vision. “Someone faked it. Please, you have to believe me—look at me!”
