Chapter 1 – The Journal That Remembered Everything
Some miracles are nothing more than debts that destiny can no longer postpone.
The sunlight washed over the ancient cobblestones, but even the morning seemed to hesitate. Every soul in the square fell silent as Helena slowly rose from the wheelchair that had imprisoned her for ten endless years. Her legs trembled violently beneath her, every muscle screaming from years of forgotten purpose.
Alejandro staggered back, his hand frozen above the pistol at his waist.
"Who... who are you?" he whispered, his voice stripped of authority. His stunned gaze flickered between the mysterious boy and the wheelchair now standing empty. "What did you just do?"
The boy never acknowledged him.
His eyes remained locked on Helena, carrying a sorrow far older than his youthful face.
"You don't recognize me, do you, Helena?" he asked quietly.
The words struck her harder than any bullet.
She stared at him, confused... then her eyes drifted to his hands.
Rough.
Weathered.
Burned by years beneath an unforgiving sun.
Her fingers reached out almost against her own will, tracing the familiar shape of his knuckles.
The moment she touched them, a chill raced through her entire body.
"No..." she breathed.
Her voice cracked.
"The accident..."
"They told me you were dead."
For the first time, the boy smiled.
Not with joy.
With unbearable sadness.
Without answering, he slowly lifted one hand and pointed toward the narrow alley behind them.
A figure stepped out from the shadows.
Silent.
Waiting.
In its hands rested a weather-beaten leather journal, its cover darkened by old engine oil and years of neglect.
"I didn't return to heal your legs," the boy said, already retreating into the darkness.
"I came back..."
"...to uncover the truth you buried beneath them."
The journal slipped from his fingers and landed at Helena's feet with a heavy, echoing thud.
Her breathing stopped.

Stamped across the cracked leather was a faded wax seal—
the very same seal she had seen on the night everything in her life was stolen.
Her hands shook uncontrollably as she knelt.
The rusted clasp resisted for only a moment.
Then, with a sharp metallic click...

She opened the journal.
And the past she had spent ten years trying to outrun finally opened with it.
