Chapter 1: The Woman Everyone Buried

Chapter 1: The Woman Everyone Buried
The ballroom fell into complete silence.
No one reached for another glass.
No one dared breathe.
The little girl clutched the silver locket against her chest, tears streaming down her cheeks.
"I want my mommy," she whispered.
The groom's hands trembled.
"What is your mother's name?"
The girl hesitated.
"Emma."
The name hit him harder than any punch.
Emma Carter.
The woman he had loved for twelve years.
The woman he had buried three years ago.
The bride stepped backward.
"This has to be some kind of trick."
But the groom wasn't listening anymore.
He knelt before the child.
"How old are you?"
"I'm six."
His heart stopped.
The dates matched perfectly.
Six years ago...
Emma had disappeared while pregnant after a terrible car accident.
Her wealthy father had insisted there was no chance she survived.
He had been shown a closed coffin.
Told her body was too badly burned to identify.
He believed them.
He mourned her.
Eventually...
He moved on.
Until today.
The girl slowly opened the locket.
Inside were two faded photographs.
One showed Emma smiling.
The other showed the groom holding Emma during a beach vacation years earlier.
No one else should have had that picture.
No one.
The groom looked at the child with tears in his eyes.
"Take me to your mother."
The girl nodded.
"I can."
The bride grabbed his arm.
"If you leave now, this wedding is over."
He gently removed her hand.
"It never should have happened."
Without another word...
May you like
He walked out of his own wedding, holding the little girl's hand.
Behind them, hundreds of guests watched an entire future collapse.
