Chapter 4 – The Last Conversation

Chapter 4 – The Last Conversation

Nearly a year after the divorce was finalized...

Daniel requested one final meeting.

Elena agreed.

Not because she wanted answers.

Because she no longer carried anger.

They met in a quiet garden café.

Daniel looked older.

The confidence that once defined him had vanished.

"I've replayed that night a thousand times," he admitted.

"I thought success made me important."

Elena stirred her tea.

"It wasn't success."

"It was borrowed power."

He nodded slowly.

"I didn't lose the company that day."

"I lost myself long before that."

For several moments...

Neither of them spoke.

Finally Daniel looked at her.

"Can you ever forgive me?"

Elena smiled gently.

"I already have."

Hope briefly appeared in his eyes.

Then she continued.

"But forgiveness doesn't mean returning."

His shoulders lowered.

"I know."

He stood.

"Thank you... for giving me the chance to apologize."

She watched him leave.

This time...

Neither of them looked back.
