Chapter 1: The Engagement That Became a Trial

Chapter 1: The Engagement That Became a Trial

Marcus never mentioned the footage.

For three days, he smiled through wedding preparations as if nothing had happened.

Cassandra believed she had won.

She walked through the mansion giving orders to decorators, tasting the wedding cake, greeting guests with flawless elegance. Every compliment fed her confidence.

"Marcus," she said one evening, slipping her arm around his, "after we're married, Lily should probably attend boarding school. She needs discipline."

Marcus looked into her eyes.

The same eyes that had watched his daughter cry while eating from a dog bowl.

He forced himself to smile.

"We'll talk about it after the engagement dinner."

"Perfect."

She kissed his cheek, completely unaware that every hidden camera remained active.

Marcus spent those days collecting everything.

Video after video.

Cassandra locking Lily inside a dark storage room.

Cassandra throwing away the little girl's drawings.

Cassandra whispering cruel words whenever no one else was around.

"You'll never be as important as me."

"Your father only loves you because he feels guilty."

"If you tell anyone, nobody will believe you."

But Marcus found something even worse.

Late one night, Cassandra made a phone call.

"I'll have access to the company after the wedding."

A man's voice answered.

"Don't mess this up. Once Marcus signs the marriage papers, transfer the shares. After that...leave the child to me."

Marcus froze.

This was never about love.

It was about his fortune.

And Lily had always been nothing more than an obstacle.

Instead of calling the police immediately, Marcus invited every board member, every investor, every family friend, and every major media representative to what Cassandra believed was their engagement celebration.

She smiled brighter than ever.

She had no idea the ceremony was about to become her public downfall.
