Chapter 2 – The Daughter He Never Understood

As federal agents secured the estate, another vehicle entered through the gates.

A black sedan.

The driver opened the rear door.

Richard Whitmore stepped out.

Nathan's face turned pale.

He knew the name.

Everyone in the financial world knew the name.

Richard Whitmore had built one of the largest investment firms in America before retiring from public life years earlier.

Nathan had always assumed Amelia's father was dead.

She had allowed him to believe that.

Richard walked directly to his daughter.

He gently examined the injuries on her back.

His hands trembled.

"I'm sorry," he whispered.

Amelia smiled weakly.

"You told me not to come home until I had enough evidence."

Richard nodded.

"I never imagined the price would be this high."

Nathan interrupted.

"This is all a misunderstanding!"

Richard slowly turned toward him.

"No."

"It's an indictment."
