CHAPTER 3: THE FALL OF THE BLUE DRESS

CHAPTER 3: THE FALL OF THE BLUE DRESS

The first recording played through the ballroom speakers.

A woman’s voice.

Panicked.

Begging.

Then Cassandra’s voice—clear, unmistakable—cold enough to freeze blood.

“Get rid of the child. Permanently.”

A collective gasp erupted.

Guests who had once applauded her now stepped back as if she were contagious.

Elara covered her ears, crying silently.

Adrian stepped closer to Cassandra.

“You didn’t just humiliate her,” he said. “You tried to erase her.”

Cassandra’s voice broke into fury. “You think this changes anything? You think a recording destroys me?”

Adrian looked at her for a long moment.

Then replied softly:

“No. The law does.”

Security moved.

But not for Elara.

For Cassandra.

For the first time, she realized no one in the room was on her side anymore.

As she was escorted away, her eyes locked onto Adrian one last time.

“You’re making a mistake,” she hissed. “That child will ruin everything you built.”

Adrian didn’t answer.

Because Elara had already reached for his hand.

And for the first time that night, she wasn’t shaking.

She was safe.

Months later, the Vale empire would publicly announce a full restructuring of inheritance rights.

The silver crest would be restored as a symbol of the rightful bloodline.

And the little girl once called a “beggar” would sit at the head of the table she was born to inherit.

But on the night the truth was revealed, none of that mattered yet.

All that mattered was a child finally being seen.

And a lie that no longer had anywhere left to hide.

And in the silence of the shattered ballroom, a forgotten heir finally came home.
