Silence filled the hospital room.
Rebeca stared at the message on Octavio's phone as if refusing to believe the words in front of her.
The District Attorney's Office already has the files.
"No..." she whispered.
"That's impossible."
Valeria slowly lowered the remote into her palm.
"It became possible the moment you thought I was too weak to fight."
Sebastián looked from his wife to his mother, then to Octavio.
"What files?"
Valeria met his eyes.
"Everything."
She nodded toward the ceiling.
"The hidden camera."
Then she looked at Dr. Salgado.
"The forged medical reports."
Toward Octavio.
"The forced signatures."
Finally, toward Rebeca.
"And every threat you made against me and our baby."
Before anyone could react, loud footsteps echoed down the hallway.
Hospital security arrived first.
Behind them came two investigators from the District Attorney's Office.
One investigator held up an official warrant.
"Rebeca Alcázar. Octavio Alcázar. Dr. Ernesto Salgado."
"You are all ordered to remain where you are pending investigation for conspiracy, coercion, medical fraud, unlawful detention, and attempted kidnapping."
For the first time in years, Rebeca's confidence cracked.
"You have no idea who you're dealing with."
The lead investigator answered calmly.
