Chapter 5 – The Legacy That Remained
One year later, Valeria stood before an audience of young investigators and attorneys.
She held up a tiny black camera.
"The most important evidence I ever collected wasn't about money," she said.
"It was about the courage to tell the truth."
In the front row, Sebastián smiled while Gabriel slept peacefully in his arms.
The applause that followed wasn't for revenge.
It was for resilience.
Outside the auditorium, reporters asked Valeria whether she hated the people who had tried to destroy her.
She paused before answering.
"I don't live for revenge."
"I live for justice."
"And justice gave my son something far more valuable than revenge ever could."
"A future without fear."
As they walked away together, Gabriel reached for his mother's hand.
Sebastián wrapped his arm around both of them.
Behind them, the old Alcázar empire had become nothing more than a cautionary tale.
