Ava reached into her purse and placed a small pharmacy envelope on the table.
"Should I read it?"
No one answered.
She unfolded the paper.
"This prescription belongs to Eleanor Whitmore."
Daniel frowned.
"What is this supposed to prove?"
Ava smiled sadly.
"It's not the medicine."
She turned over the receipt.
"Look at the purchase date."
Daniel checked it.
Three days ago.
Then Ava placed another document beside it.
A laboratory report.
The residue from the wine had been tested.
It contained a powerful sedative.
Gasps echoed around the room.
Daniel looked at his mother.
"Mom..."
Eleanor remained silent.
Ava finally revealed the truth.
"I hired a private lab after I noticed I became unconscious every time I drank wine during family dinners."
