Clara Caldwell had requested one final meeting.
His lawyers advised against it.

The woman who once controlled an empire-sized mansion now sat alone in a prison interview room.

Broken.
"I wasn't born cruel," she whispered.
"My father raised me the same way."
She described a childhood filled with locked closets, empty dinners, and endless punishment.
"I convinced myself fear made children stronger."
Alexander listened without interrupting.
When she finished, he quietly replied,
"No."
"Fear only teaches children how to survive."
"Love teaches them how to live."
Clara lowered her head.
"For what it's worth..."
"I'm sorry."
Alexander accepted neither revenge nor reconciliation.
