Chapter 2

CHAPTER 3: THE MAN WHO OWNS CHILDREN

Midnight arrived like a threat.

A black car rolled into the mansion gates without announcement. No headlights flashing. No noise. Just presence.

Marcus Vale stepped out.

He looked calm. Too calm.

Like a man walking into something he already owned.

Inside, Lina stood at the top of the staircase, holding Evan’s bracelet in her hand. Richard stood beside her, tense but steady.

Marcus entered the hall smiling.

“Well,” he said softly, looking around. “This is unexpected.”

His eyes landed on Lina.

Recognition flickered—but not surprise.

As if he had always expected this moment.

“You survived,” he said.

Lina’s voice was ice. “You stole my son.”

Marcus tilted his head slightly. “I preserved him.”

Silence dropped.

Richard stepped forward. “What did you do?”

Marcus sighed like a disappointed teacher.

“Do you really think children belong to the people who give birth to them?” he asked. “They belong to whoever can shape them correctly.”

Lina’s hands shook. “He’s not a project.”

Marcus smiled faintly. “Ethan is proof of concept. A successful one.”

From upstairs, a small voice interrupted.

“Mommy?”

Evan stood at the top of the stairs, rubbing his eyes.

The entire room froze.

Marcus looked up slowly.

“That name,” he said quietly. “We never used that name.”

Evan pointed at Lina.

“She’s my mommy.”

Marcus’s smile disappeared.

For the first time, something cracked in his control.

And that was enough.

Richard moved first.

Then Lina.

Then the truth that had been buried for five years finally broke free—not as a secret anymore, but as a fight.

ENDING: THE NAME HE CHOSE HIMSELF

Three days later, the mansion was no longer owned by Marcus Vale.

Legal investigations moved faster than anyone expected once sealed documents surfaced. Wealth could buy silence—but not every copy of the truth.

Richard Vale resigned from the family company.

Lina left the mansion with her son holding her hand.

No ceremonies. No speeches. No headlines that understood the full story.

Only a boy who finally stopped asking why he didn’t have a mother.

Because now, he did.

On the last morning before they left the estate, Evan looked back at the tall gates.

“Do I still have to be Ethan?” he asked.

Lina knelt beside him. “No,” she said gently. “You get to choose.”

The boy thought for a moment.

Then smiled.

“I like Evan,” he said.

May you like

And he didn’t look back again.
