Chapter 3: Home Again

Chapter 3: Home Again
Six months later...
The DeLuca penthouse no longer felt like a museum.
Children's drawings covered the refrigerator.
Laughter echoed through rooms once filled only with silence.
Leo spoke every day now.
Some mornings he still cried for his mother.
Some nights the nightmares returned.
But he no longer faced them alone.
Matteo had changed too.
He worked fewer hours.
He attended every school event.
Every bedtime story.
Every breakfast.
His empire continued to grow.
Yet he had finally discovered the one investment that mattered most.
His son.
Camryn never became Leo's replacement mother.
She never tried.
Instead, she became something just as precious.
A trusted friend.
A safe place.
A reminder that love does not always arrive wearing expensive clothes or carrying impressive titles.
Sometimes...
It wears a faded gray cleaning uniform.
One spring afternoon, Leo ran across the garden carrying a picture he had drawn.
Three smiling figures stood beneath a bright blue sky.
He handed it proudly to Matteo.
"That's you," Leo said, pointing at the tallest figure.
"That's me."
Then he pointed to the woman holding both their hands.
"And that's Camryn."
Matteo smiled.
"What is the picture called?"
Leo thought for a moment before answering.
"It's called 'Home.'"
Matteo looked at Camryn.
Neither of them spoke.
They didn't need to.
Because they both understood the truth that had taken years to uncover:
Home is not built with marble floors, towering walls, or unimaginable wealth.
Home is built by the people who stay when someone is hurting.
And sometimes, the strongest person in the room is not the billionaire who owns everything...
May you like
But the ordinary soul who quietly teaches a broken family how to love again.
The End.
