The courtroom was filled beyond capacity.
Margaret Hayes still believed the Bennett family was exaggerating.
"One slap?" she whispered to her lawyer.
"They'll never prove emotional abuse."
She couldn't have been more wrong.
Richard's legal team didn't begin with the slap.
They began with nearly three years of evidence.
Text messages.
Audio recordings.
Hospital reports.
Photographs.
Security camera footage.
Every insult.
Every threat.
Every time Emily had been forced to eat alone.
Every doctor's appointment Daniel skipped because his mother said his wife was "being dramatic."

Margaret's voice echoed through the courtroom.
"If that baby doesn't survive, Daniel can always marry someone younger."
The room froze.

Protective orders were issued immediately.
As reporters crowded outside the courthouse, Richard simply wrapped an arm around his daughter.
