Chapter 2: The Grandmother's Journal

Chapter 2: The Grandmother's Journal
Two days later, Alejandro invited Lucía to his family's vineyard.
Inside the old estate library, he carefully placed a leather-bound journal on the table.
"It belonged to my grandmother."
Lucía opened it carefully.
Inside were handwritten notes about recipes, local farmers, forgotten cooking methods, and dozens of restaurant reviews.
One page carried her name.
Lucía Morales.
Excellent technique.
Exceptional humility.
Protect this young woman if I am no longer here.
Lucía's hands trembled.
Tucked inside the journal was an old photograph.
It showed Alejandro's grandmother standing beside a much younger Lucía during a village food festival years earlier.
Lucía remembered the elderly woman immediately.
She had introduced herself simply as "Elena."
She had never mentioned that she belonged to one of the wealthiest families in the country.
Alejandro smiled.
"She wanted people to know her heart before they knew her last name."

Lucía quietly wiped away another tear.
For the first time since the gala, she felt that someone truly believed in her.
