Chapter 4: The Return

Chapter 4: The Return
Almost one year later, the country's largest international culinary summit invited Lucía as the keynote chef.
Ironically, the event was held in the very same De la Vega estate.
This time, Alejandro arrived not as a business partner but as the summit's principal sponsor.
Hundreds of guests stood and applauded when Lucía entered the grand dining hall.
The former hostess watched silently from the back of the room.
Her influence had faded.
Her reputation had never recovered.
After presenting an extraordinary meal inspired by Elena's journal, Lucía noticed the woman quietly approaching.
"I owe you an apology," the hostess said.
"I confused pride with honor."
Lucía looked at her for a long moment.
"You embarrassed me in front of the world."
The woman nodded.
"I know."
Lucía took a slow breath.
"I forgive you."
"But forgiveness doesn't erase consequences."
The hostess lowered her head in silence.
May you like
She understood.
Some lessons arrive too late.
