Chapter 1 – Every Door Closed

Chapter 1 – Every Door Closed
Marcus stared at the frozen screen in disbelief.
"No... this has to be a mistake."
The hotel manager, who had obeyed every order Marcus gave for the last five years, no longer looked at him with respect.
Only caution.
His phone rang.
It was the Chairman of Castle Hospitality's legal department.
Marcus answered immediately.
"There has been an error."
"There has been a correction," the lawyer replied calmly.
"The ownership transfer finalized nine minutes ago. Your executive authority has been revoked."
Marcus laughed again.
"You can't remove me."
"We already did."
The line disconnected.
Silence.
For the first time in years...
Marcus had no one left to command.
His mistress, Chloe, stepped forward wearing Isabella's robe.
"What is happening?"
Marcus forced a smile.
"Nothing."
But then security approached.
Not the guards who answered to Marcus.
The corporate security division.
Their uniforms were different.
Their badges carried the original Castle crest.
The captain stopped only a few feet away.
"Mr. Marcus Lang."
Marcus frowned.
"What?"
"You and your guest are no longer authorized to occupy the Presidential Suite."
"You can't be serious."
"We are."
"You work for me."
The captain didn't even blink.
"I never did."
He handed Marcus a sealed envelope.
Inside...
A termination notice.
His employment contract.
His executive privileges.
His company vehicle.
His penthouse access.
Every benefit...
Canceled.
Effective immediately.
Across the lobby, guests had begun gathering.
No one spoke.
Everyone watched.
The same man who had thrown his wife onto the street...
Was now being escorted out through the very doors he believed he owned.
Outside...
Marcus looked across the driveway.
Isabella was still standing there.
She didn't smile.
She didn't celebrate.
She simply watched.
That hurt him far more than if she had laughed.
May you like
Because indifference meant something terrifying.
She had already moved on.
