Chapter 2 – The Truth Behind the Marriage

Chapter 2 – The Truth Behind the Marriage

The next morning...

Every financial newspaper carried the same headline.

HEIRESS RECLAIMS CASTLE HOSPITALITY AFTER CEO REMOVED.

Marcus stared at the article from a cheap motel room.

His coffee had gone cold.

His phone hadn't stopped vibrating.

But none of the calls were offers of help.

Banks wanted repayment.

Investors demanded explanations.

Board members resigned.

Then came the interview.

Castle Hospitality held a press conference.

Reporters crowded the ballroom.

When Isabella stepped onto the stage, cameras flashed nonstop.

She wore a simple navy business suit.

No diamonds.

No designer handbag.

No unnecessary display of wealth.

Confidence required none of it.

A reporter raised her hand.

"Mrs. Lang... did you know your husband intended to remove you from the company?"

Isabella answered softly.

"I knew he believed the company belonged to him."

Another reporter asked,

"Were you secretly planning revenge?"

She smiled faintly.

"No."

"I was preparing for reality."

The room fell silent.

"My grandfather built Castle Hospitality."

"My parents protected it."

"My responsibility was to ensure it survived."

She paused.

"Unfortunately..."

"I eventually realized the greatest threat to the company wasn't competition."

"It was the man sitting in the CEO's office."

The ballroom exploded with whispers.

Every television station carried her words live.

Marcus watched every second.

Each sentence destroyed another piece of the reputation he had spent years creating.

Then Isabella revealed one final truth.

"I never signed ownership away."

"I only allowed someone else to believe I had."

Across the country...

Executives suddenly understood.

Marcus had never been the owner.

He had only been the caretaker.

And he had mistaken borrowed power...

For permanent authority.
