No one dared to speak.
Diane slowly stood from her recliner, her expression hardening.
"Ethan... what exactly do you think you're doing?"
He calmly placed the television cord on the coffee table.
"I'm ending this."
Vanessa laughed nervously.
"Seriously? Over some dishes?"
Ethan looked at every face in the room.
"For months, my pregnant wife has been cooking your meals... washing your clothes... cleaning your mess... while all of you sat here enjoying the life I paid for."
Courtney folded her arms.
"She never complained."
"Because decent people don't abuse someone's kindness."
Madison scoffed.
"You're overreacting."
Ethan reached into his briefcase and pulled out several envelopes.
He placed them on the table one by one.
"The mortgage."
"The electric bill."
"The internet."
"The phone plans."
"The car insurance."
Every envelope landed with a sharp slap.
"Starting tomorrow..."
"...they're all your responsibility."
