"I paid this mortgage for seven years."

"I paid Courtney's graduate school."
"I covered Madison's credit card debt."
"I never kept score."
His voice became quieter.
"But today..."
"You threw away the woman carrying my son."
Everyone stared.

Ethan held up an empty prescription bottle.
"I found this in the kitchen trash."
Olivia's iron supplements.
Her blood pressure medication.
The medicine her doctor specifically ordered her to take every day.
Diane's face changed.
"I only wanted to clean the cabinet."

Olivia had quietly walked downstairs.
"You told me pregnant women complain too much."
"You said medicine makes women weak."
"You threw it away while I was sleeping."
