Margaret Whitmore opened her eyes.
Nathaniel sat beside her hospital bed.
Tears filled his eyes.
"Grandmother..."
She smiled weakly.
Then her expression darkened.
"Where is Emily?"
"She's safe."
Margaret nodded.
"Good."
Nathaniel hesitated.
"Do you remember what happened?"
Margaret closed her eyes.
