Chapter 3: Names Carry Consequences

Chapter 3: Names Carry Consequences

Preston barely looked up.

“Well, if it isn't another customer.”

Victor stopped beside the table.

His expression remained perfectly calm.

“My wife served you tonight.”

Preston shrugged.

“She'll survive.”

Cole smirked.

“It was just soda.”

Victor nodded once.

“Yes.”

Silence.

Then he asked one question.

“Did she deserve it?”

Nobody answered.

Victor turned toward David.

“Please bring the security footage.”

Preston laughed.

“You think you're going to sue us?”

Victor looked back.

“No.”

The restaurant television screens suddenly switched on.

The security recording filled every monitor.

Crystal-clear footage showed Preston deliberately throwing the bottle.

No accident.

No misunderstanding.

The laughter around the table suddenly faded.

Victor removed his phone.

One call.

“Release the files.”

Across Chicago...

Phones began ringing.

Newsrooms received documents.

Construction regulators received anonymous evidence.

State ethics investigators opened encrypted emails.

Federal auditors downloaded years of financial records.

Every document had been waiting for one instruction.

Release.

Victor ended the call.

“Actions,” he said quietly, “always introduce themselves before consequences do.”
