Chapter 2: The Truth Hidden for Seven Years

Chapter 2: The Truth Hidden for Seven Years

Richard's face turned pale.

He recognized Emma immediately.

Seven years ago, she had been his young fiancée.

They had planned a future together.

Then Richard's powerful family discovered Emma was pregnant.

His father demanded the relationship end.

A poor waitress could never become part of the Whitmore empire.

Days later, Emma was informed that her newborn baby had died after complications during birth.

Heartbroken, she disappeared from Richard's life forever.

At least that was what Richard believed.

Now she stood before him.

Alive.

And staring at the child beside him.

"Tell me the truth," Emma demanded.

Richard looked at the bracelet.

Then at the boy.

Then at Emma.

Finally, his father stepped forward from the crowd.

The old billionaire lowered his head.

For the first time in his life, he looked ashamed.

"It wasn't an accident," he confessed.

Gasps spread through the room.

"I paid the doctors."

Emma froze.

The old man continued.

"The baby survived. I arranged for him to be taken away. Richard never knew."

Silence.

Richard's face drained of color.

"What did you say?"

The old man's voice cracked.

"I told both of you lies. I believed I was protecting the family name."

Emma felt years of pain crashing over her.

Every lonely night.

Every birthday she spent mourning a child she thought was dead.

Every tear.

All because of one man's greed.

Then the little boy quietly spoke.

"Mom?"

Emma turned.

The child looked at her with wide eyes.

For some reason, he had known the moment he saw her.

And in that instant, neither of them could stop crying.
