Chapter 3: A Family Reclaimed

Chapter 3: A Family Reclaimed
Three months later, the Whitmore mansion looked very different.
The old patriarch had stepped down from the company.
Richard had publicly exposed the truth and donated millions to organizations protecting vulnerable mothers and children.
But none of that mattered as much as what happened inside a small house overlooking the ocean.
Emma sat on the porch watching the sunset.
Beside her sat Richard.
And between them sat seven-year-old Noah.
Their son.
The boy laughed as he showed them a drawing from school.
Three stick figures holding hands beneath a bright yellow sun.
At the top he had written:
My Family.
Emma smiled through happy tears.
For years she believed fate had taken everything from her.
Instead, fate had simply been waiting for the truth to come home.
Richard wrapped an arm around her shoulders.
"I'm sorry for every year we lost."
Emma squeezed his hand.
"We can't change the past."
"No," Richard agreed softly. "But we can choose our future."
Noah grinned and grabbed both their hands.
The three of them sat together as the sun disappeared beyond the horizon.
For the first time in seven years, they were exactly where they belonged.
And sometimes, the greatest miracle isn't finding something new.
